Anita Allbritten - Office Manager / Registered Veterinary Technician
I have worked for Dr. Powers for over 30 years. I was born in Winder, GA. and I started working for Dr. Powers in high school and continued to work for him while I attended the University of Georgia and graduated in 1987 with BS in Environmental Health. After college I started to work for Dr. Powers full time and in 2007 I took the State Boards and received my Veterinary Technician License.
I actually do a little bit of everything at the office including acting as office manager. This is a good thing because I never know what each day will bring. I am very lucky because I get to bring my chihuahua Tinkie to work with me which is great! Tinkie was a rescue and my two cats at home (Samwise and Tobey) are also rescues.
It really is a joy to work here because everyone is nice and kind and we all have pets whom we love, so to be able to help others with their pets is a blessing to us!
Eva Powell - Receptionist
My life's journey led me to Barrow Veterinary Hospital in 2002. I was born and raised in Anderson, S.C. by wonderful parents who showed me great patience and restraint throughout my life as I brought home every stray anything I encountered along my way. I graduated in 1977 from O.I.C. Business College in Rockville, Maryland and moved back home where I met my loving husband of 37 years. I began a long career in Retail Management that brought us to Georgia in 1993 living in the Doraville and Chamblee areas. We bought our home and moved to Barrow County in 2001. Throughout the years there was always a strong passion for animals in our home. I finally acted on that passion for animals in 2002 and applied for a position of Receptionist with Dr. Powers and have enjoyed being a part of this close knit group ever since. At home we now have 'Little Luke'-15 yr old Jack Rat (rescue from Pup & Cat Co)' Earl Small-11 yr old Budda bellied Tuxedo (rescued from Hope Lumber by my kind hearted husband.), and last but not least our newest addition to the family is 'Ash'-3 yr old Mini Aussi. He is the apple of his Daddy's eye... So with a family like this I am constantly reminded just how important our role as caregiver actually is to our clients and I am so honored and appreciative to be even a small portion of that.

Marissa McBride-Veterinary Assistant
My name is Marissa McBride. I am 22 yrs old. My family and I are the BIGGEST GA Bulldog fans."Go Dawgs!" I've lived in Barrow County my whole life. I attended high school at Winder Barrow High. Before coming to work at BVH I worked in a dog grooming shop for 3 yrs. I came to work for Dr. Powers in Feb. of 2013 as a Veterinary Asst to pursue my love of animals. I have a 7 year old daughter Kayden Jackson whose love of animals is as big as mine. She hopes to grow up and become a Veterinarian one day. She tries to save anything she can including turtles in the road. She is so compassionate for animals already. Her favorite thing to do is to come to work with me any chance she gets.
At home we have an 11 yr old Beagle X named Snoopy, a Parakeet named Romeo, along with 2 family dogs; Opie & Ella..... My favorite part of my job is assisting the Doctor with surgeries and any emergencies that may come in. I love being a part of a pet's recovery success. This is what makes my job so great and something to be proud of. Dr. Powers has taught me so much in the few short years I have been here. I still learn something new everyday!!!
All of my co-workers are my family away from home. I am so blessed to be able to share everything I do everyday with them....
This Christmas we had a new addition introduced to our family. Meet Little Lexi. She is our pride and joy. She is such a good girl and brings all of us so much joy.
Ericka Tinajero- Veterinary Assistant
My name is Ericka Tinajero. I'm 20 years old. I moved to Winder in 2005 from White county, but I was born in Homestead, FL. I'm Mexican, and can speak Spanish quite fluently. I ALWAYS have a coffee by my side! I was a Marching Cat for all 4 years at Apalachee High school, playing the Alto
Saxophone. At home, I have a 9-year old Terrier/Shihtzu mix and a 2-year old Chihuahua. Since I was a kid I've always loved and cared for animals, because someone has to speak for them. So, working at Barrow Vet is a great experience for me because everyday is something different. Always keeping you on your toes. I'm glad to be part of such a great Veterinary Hospital!
